Performers College announce award winning choreographer Ellen Kane as Patron
We are thrilled to announce the incredible Ellen Kane as our new patron of Performers College.
Ellen is an Olivier and Tony Award nominated choreographer. Her work is characterised by intricate and dynamic storytelling through dance; reimagining and expanding the role of movement across film and theatre. She has worked extensively across Broadway and the West End on many iconic productions such as Legally Blonde, West Side Story, Billy Elliot, Sister Act and more, receiving critical acclaim for reinventing classic musicals for modern audiences.
Ellen trained in contemporary dance and began her career performing and working with some of the UK’s leading choreographers. Most recently she choreographed the movie musical version of Matilda for Netflix/Sony, which opened the BFI London Film Festival and received nominations for the Chita Rivera Award for Choreography in Film and the MTV Movie and TV Award for ‘Best Musical Moment’.
Ellen has worked with many Performers College alumni on a diverse range projects from stage and screen and we look forward to developing this working relationship with her to allow our students to experience learning from Ellen before starting their professional careers.
Ellen had this to say about becoming our patron:
“I am extremely excited and honoured to become part of the Performers College family. After working with many alumni, it’s clear the training is outstanding. I am so impressed with the forward thinking approach the college takes to prepare its students to be triple threat performers, both versatile and adaptable in an ever changing and demanding industry. I look forward to working closely with Performers College and offering my knowledge and encouragement as we move forward together in this partnership. I am proud to join this wonderful college as Patron.”
