Northern Ballet School Students set for 2025 Fonteyn Competition
Northern Ballet School is proud to announce that three of our Year 2 Classical Focus students will be representing Northern Ballet School at the Fonteyn International Ballet Competition in São Paulo, Brazil this October.
Classical Focus student Lilly Burton has also been awarded a £2,000 bursary by the Royal Academy of Dance to attend this prestigious event. Lilly will be joined by fellow Year 2 Classical Focus students Rose Maskill, who has also been awarded a full bursary, and Heather Lyons, who has achieved the strict eligibility requirements for this esteemed competition. This is a remarkable achievement, as students from all over the world compete for the opportunity to participate and secure funding for this internationally recognised event.
Sarah Dickinson, Classical Ballet Lecturer, expressed her enthusiasm:
“We are delighted that Rose, Heather and Lilly will represent NBS in this prestigious ballet competition in South America, gaining life experiences whilst performing alongside other talented dancers from around the globe.”
The Fonteyn International Ballet Competition, previously held in London for several years, has moved to São Paulo for this year’s competition, providing our students with an incredible opportunity to showcase their talents on a global stage.
Lilly reflected on the opportunity:
“I’m delighted and excited for this amazing opportunity to be able to represent Northern Ballet School at the Fonteyn International Ballet Competition in Brazil. And am extremely grateful to the Royal Academy of Dance for awarding me a bursary to make this dream come true.”
