Student Success – Students perform with Adam Lambert on the National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve Big Bash

16 January, 2023

Hosted by Jason Manford and Alesha Dixon, the National Lotter’s New Year’s Eve Big Bash at Wembley Arena celebrated some of the key moments that defined the UK in 2022. It also paid tribute to some of the extraordinary people who made an incredible difference this year thanks to National Lottery funding.

It was a night not to miss with an amazing line-up of star performances including Westlife, Sugababes and Cirque du Soleil to name just a few. A group of current students from our Essex campus were chosen to join the cast supporting Adam Lambert’s opening performance of Queen’s iconic song “Don’t Stop Me Now”.

The performance was choreographed by a fellow graduate of Performers College Oli Metzler, who is after an extremely successful performing career quickly becoming one of the industry’s sought-after choreographers. We also spotted 2019 graduate Andrés Quero, who was one of the core dancers for this Performance!

Our careers team and the on-site agency worked closely alongside our industry partners Mass Movement to create this unforgettable opportunity for our students, Hannah Welford who is a third-year BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and Dance student had this to say about her experience:

“Learning and performing alongside the professional dancers for Adam Lambert was so eye-opening and inspirational. Oli Metzler and Lianne Lee May created such a safe and fun environment for us in rehearsals and to be given the opportunity to perform at Wembley arena was just incredible.”
