Strictly Theatre Company and Strictly Foundation create Alan Burkitt Scholarship for Performers College

Performers College are thrilled to announce that the amazing Strictly Theatre Company,  known for producing incredible productions across the UK featuring the very best stars of stage and screen, have created the Alan Burkitt Scholarship, giving one lucky recipient the opportunity to study with us at Performers College.

Facilitated by the Strictly Foundation, an organisation created to help young people overcome barriers to full time professional training, we are delighted to announce Jude Ponting as the recipient. Jude was invited to a performance of Anton & Giovanni’s Him & Me show at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend where he was awarded with the scholarship and will join us in September to begin his full-time training on our BA Musical Theatre and Dance Degree.

The Alan Burkitt Scholarship is named after a Performers College alumnus, who both directs and choreographs productions for the Strictly Theatre Company. We are also grateful to be able to say that the scholarship will allow Jude to train on a fully funded course for three years. Paul Irving, the Managing Director of Strictly Theatre Company, has been associated with theatre for over 20 years – his deep passion and love for theatre have strengthened Paul’s ambition to run a company that not only entertains, but also gives opportunities to the next generation of performers.

Paul had this to say about awarding the scholarship opportunity to Jude:

‘We are so delighted to be giving our first scholarship to Jude to study at the wonderful Performers College.  We wish him a great three years and look forward to seeing him in the West end once he has graduated.’

 We can’t wait to follow Jude’s journey with us at Performers College and want to thank Paul and the Strictly Theatre Company for their incredible generosity and providing one of our students with this once in a lifetime opportunity.
