Ashley J Russell

Associate Lecturer of Acting; BA Acting, MA Musical Theatre

Ashley originates from Central Scotland and began performing at a young age under the direction of Caroline Newlands and also McKechnie School of Dance and Performing Arts. This strong foundation led her to perform professionally with The Scottish Ballet and Rambert Dance Company.

She then gained a BA in Acting at Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh and furthered her training with an MA in Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London under the prestigious Dame Judy Dench Scholarship.

Theatre credits include THE WAITING ROOM (Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh), WE WILL ROCK YOU as Teacher/Lily Allen/1st cover Killer Queen (UK Tour), SISTER ACT as Nun and 1st cover KT (London Palladium), SISTER ACT LAUNCH (American Church Broadway USA), WE WILL ROCK YOU as Killer Queen (UK and European Tour) JESTEND, Leicester Square Theatre, SHREK THE MUSICAL playing Mama Bear and 1st cover Dragon at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, MAMMA MIA! (International Tour) cover Donna/Tanya/Rosie. TOMMY THE ROCK OPERA, (Blackpool Winter Gardens) Mrs Walker, Joe McElderry UK Tour, Guest Vocalist.

Television credits include: I’D DO ANYTHING for BBC1, THE ONE SHOW for BBC Scotland, THE HOUR, CHILDREN IN NEED for BBC1, KB TV , Korea, THE SCOT SQUAD for The Comedy Unit BBC OLIVIER AWARDS, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
