Alumni success – Katherine Isles is the assistant choreographer on Strictly Come Dancing’s Blackpool Special
Strictly Come Dancing returned to Blackpool for the first time in three years this weekend and marked its epic return to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Graduate Katherine Isles was at the helm of the production as assistant choreographer for the amazing opening dance sequence that opened the show with a bang featuring the Strictly professionals, judges and celebrities.
Blackpool has become synonymous with Strictly Come Dancing. This weekend the show moved from the TV studios in London to the spiritual home of ballroom dancing, the magnificent Blackpool Tower Ballroom! The Ballroom is one of the truly iconic venues of the 19th century with its beautifully decorated ceilings, chandeliers, stunning sprung floor and ornate balconies – there really is no other venue like it.
Katherine had this to say about her experience:
“We prepped this number during the August heatwave and finally got to shoot it at 9 pm on the Blackpool seafront in November!! A huge thank you to Choreographer Matt Flint and the Strictly pro who danced outside all night in their Latin shoes! The machine that makes this show happen is mega. Every department works its socks off until all hours, sometimes seven days a week! They are truly the best in the business.”
