Tara Wilcox

Vocal Lecturer

Tara is a professional singer, singing teacher & vocal coach. She grew up in the Midlands where she had a classical training; singing with the Birmingham Opera Company & as a founder member of the City of Birmingham Symphony Youth Chorus set up by Sir Simon Rattle.

She began working with the National Youth Music Theatre in 2001 performing at the Edinburgh Fringe festival & helped start the organisation British Youth Music Theatre in 2004, before moving to London for drama school. By chance she attended a course with the wonderful Paul Farrington which started a fascination with learning about all things voice!

Having worked as a professional actress for a few years Tara began teaching & started working towards her EMT in 2010 under the expert tutelage of Anne-Marie Speed, achieving it in 2015. Tara now teaches as often as she can whilst managing a busy touring schedule with her band. She has taught on Estill courses in Helsinki, Edinburgh and London & works closely with Anne-Marie Speed & the Estill team.

Before signing to Universal Music with her band ‘The Wandering Hearts’, Tara taught singing at degree level at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, Colchester Institute & the Urdang Academy. Tara has a private studio in Essex as well as using online platforms to teach students from all over the world. Tara is passionate about teaching & is particularly excited about working with the Estill model in the commercial music field.
