Rebecca Schwartz
Associate Lecturer Singing and Musical Theatre
Rebecca trained at as an actress at Queen Mary and Westfield, (London), Central School of Speech and Drama and Birmingham School of Acting.
Since she started teaching singing, (20 years ago), she has sought out varied training in vocal pedagogy. This includes certifying in Estill, (CFP), PG Cert from Voice Workshop in Advanced Anatomy, (Distinction) and a lot of training with the British Voice Association (BVA). Examples of Rebecca’s recent training includes studying clowning with Peta Lily, singing and neurology with Heidi Moss Ericson and jazz with Claire Martin.
Rebecca is proud to be a Director of the BVA and was a member of the BVA’s Educational Working Party for several years. The events she organised included Freeing the Dancer’s Voice, Extreme Voices, The Voice - Top Down, Secrets of the Spoken Voice and microphone singers days in 2021 and 2023.
She is a Licentiate of London College of Music (Music Theatre), a member of Vocology in Practice and an international workshop leader who has presented her practical workshop about stage fright both online and at the International Conference of Voice Teachers 2022 in Vienna.
Rebecca has written and performed several one woman shows. These include her original musical Baby Brained – the Musical. More recently can be found sharing her original songs at various local festivals in the Midlands and singing covers in random restaurants.
Rebecca has a special interest in how mindset and emotional blocks can inhibit “free” singing and has studied many therapeutic different approaches. Rebecca is proudly neuro nontypical.
