Mel Stoner is a singing teacher who has spent over a decade helping singers of all levels – from complete beginners to West End professionals – find their voice. She specialises in musical theatre and contemporary singing, combining science-based techniques with a flexible, student-centred approach that recognises every performer’s journey is unique.

Mel teaches on degree and foundation courses, where she designs and delivers technical singing programmes, one-to-one coaching and performance classes. She also runs a thriving private practice in Brighton, supporting singers with everything from vocal technique and audition preparation to confidence-building and artistry. Her teaching always prioritises vocal health while encouraging students to explore creativity and individuality.

An Accredited Teacher with Vocal Process, Mel has been mentored by internationally respected voice experts Dr Gillyanne Kayes and Jeremy Fisher. She is also a Vocal Health First Aider, a qualified Estill Master Trainer, a Fellow of Higher Education, and holds a PG Cert in Higher Education.

Alongside her teaching, Mel has worked as a professional performer in musical theatre, cabaret, bands and studio recording, giving her a rich understanding of the demands of the industry. She is passionate about supporting the next generation of performers to discover not just a stronger voice, but the confidence and resilience to thrive both on stage and beyond.
