Principal Voice Lecturer

Lauren Marie is an accomplished voice practitioner and phonetician, bringing a rich and dynamic background in linguistics, vocal performance, and actor training. She holds a BA in Linguistics and Japanese from The University of Sheffield and an MA in Professional Voice Practice from The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.With a career spanning both national and international stages,

Lauren has worked extensively across theatre, education, and the music industry. Her diverse portfolio includes work with The Birmingham Repertory Theatre and vocal support for touring artists in the commercial music sector. She has collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Mathias André, Lynn Farleigh, Amit Sharma, and Katy Weir.

Specialising in Skinner Release Technique, Laban for Voice, and the Linklater Method, Laurens teaching integrates movement, breath, and embodied voice to support expressive freedom and technical precision. Her practice is further enriched by her background in Butoh and Shotokan Karate, and takes inspiration from Yoshi Oida and Lorna Marshalls East Asian Influences, resulting in a grounded and disciplined approach to connecting voice and physicality in performance.

Lauren is currently Principal Voice Lecturer in Birmingham on the BA (Hons) Acting for Stage, Screen & Digital Media course
