MA Performing Arts - Performance
The MA Performing Arts Performance award pathway is crafted for performers who want to refine their performance across acting, singing, and dance styles. This pathway offers access to state-of-the-art performance spaces, hands-on mentorship from industry-leading performers, and collaboration opportunities with a variety of performing artists and creatives.
Working across diverse performance platforms throughout the course, you will be showcased in your own bespoke performances, reaching public, private, and industry-focused audiences.

Minimum Requirements
A degree (normally 2.2 or above) in a creative industry-related subject or significant experience in a relevant field. Overseas students where English is not their native language may be required to meet a minimum English language requirement of an Academic IELTS 6.5. We require a minimum of 6.0 to be achieved in each band.
All applicants will be subject to interview and a portfolio may also be requested for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPCEL).
Progression
You will be qualified to work as an advanced practitioner or educator/researcher within the field of performance arts and related creative industries.
Year 1
All students take the following core modules in their first year of study. Full module detail is subject to final approval.
Develop a range of performance techniques across various styles and settings, which you’ll apply to your own practice, refining your own performance style. With guidance from an experienced performer through 1-2-1 sessions, you’ll produce a small showcase piece.

- West End to Broadway to Screen with Rachel Tucker
- Performance Techniques with Paulo Teixeira
Work alongside directors, choreographers and casting directors to create collaborative performances. This module focuses on the process of creating unified works across disciplines, from initial concept through to final performance. You’ll engage in a unique performance project with an industry stakeholder, capturing your process from inspiration to completion.

Discover how to incorporate technology, such as performing for camera, working with microphones, and technological rehearsal tools, to further enhance your performance quality. This module prepares you to integrate tech elements into both live and recorded settings, preparing you for industry standard technology-performance intersection.

- Performance Capture Techniques for Film and Screen
- Vocal Recordings & Production
Learn essential skills to market yourself as a performer, from building a professional performance portfolio to networking with agents and casting directors. This module supports you in navigating the industry, providing the necessary toolkit to present yourself as a confident, industry-ready artist.

- Personal Branding and Identity for Performers
- Showreel & Headshot Development
- Castability & Spotlight Breakdown
In your final trimester, you will rehearse a full-length solo or ensemble performance for a live audience or film screening. Working under 1-2-1 mentorship with an industry professional, you’ll refine your performance, collaborate with a creative team, and stage a production or showcase.
Past productions have included recorded acting performances, live musical theatre performances, and immersive commercial theatrical experiences. Our bespoke facilities provide a professional platform to support your creative vision and establish your artistic identity.

Alumni Discount
Eligible BIMM University alumni commencing a postgraduate programme with an intake year from 2024 will receive a £1,000 discount on their tuition fees.
