Being a musical theatre performer today means you need to be much more than a triple threat; you need a skill set that makes you unique. You also need a direct and extensive network and an innate understanding of the industry you will be working in.
Alongside classic high-end musical theatre training, we offer a program that develops other skills essential to a musical theatre performer in order to broaden work opportunities and connections.

What to expect
Musicals produced today make demands on performers like never before. Yes, you need the techniques that will equip you to perform at a high level as dancers and singers, but if you can also be proficient in aerial skills, puppetry, multimedia and camera work, you stand a better chance of being employed.
If you are a strong actor, able to approach choreography, able to take initiative, understand contemporary scores, have a knowledge of music theory, you will stand a better chance of being employed.
If you can work in immersive theatre, applied theatre, site-specific theatre, cabaret, you stand a better chance of being employed. If you are mentally resilient and focused you stand a better chance of being employed. This pathway equips you with the tools.
The aim of this route is to ensure that students are technically proficient in dance, acting and singing, equipping them to work at the level expected in the field of musical theatre. This route addresses both the traditions of the art form as well as encourages students to challenge convention.
Musical Theatre has developed over the years. Performers are expected to be able to adapt to a range of styles and challenges; graduates of this route will be confident that they can respond to the diverse demands of the industry secure in their knowledge and expertise. The Musical Theatre route will also focus on entrepreneurship, creative identity and individuality.
Masterclasses
We believe that developing your industry connections is a key component to a successful career in the creative arts. Performers College offers a wide range of Masterclasses with performers and industry experts.
The likes of Dominic Keavey (TV Director), Layton Williams (West End Performer) and Natalie Weiss (Vocalist) have given our Training Professionals advice and career tips that you won’t find in any textbook.
Choose a course
Our courses are aimed at presenting the industry with individuals who are not only talented and professionally trained, but also well-equipped, both physically and mentally, to face the inevitable challenges they’ll encounter as they break into the business.
BA (Hons) Performing Arts consists of two pathways: Musical Theatre and Acting; each providing in-depth training shaped by current industry trends.
Performers College specialised one-year Degree Top-up programme has been designed to enable committed performers to extend their understanding of performing arts in either: Contemporary Musical Theatre, Acting for the 21st Century.
Our student stories
Sam trained at Guildford School of Acting. He has worked extensively as an actor, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Another Country and Unexpected Host. As well as a formidable acting career Sam has directed some of the most well-known West End productions.
Noa, a Contemporary Musical Theatre pathway graduate from our Brighton Campus has already had an interesting story, from drama training in New York, to finding her dance and singing styles at Performers College - while also appearing in Disney's The Little Mermaid, Apple TV's Ted Lasso, and a variety of stage and screen roles. Your lecturers
Our expert lecturers will provide you with essential insider tips and exclusive knowledge that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s their role to help you step into the performing arts industry with confidence.
During his time in training, he partook in numerous concerts and won the prima vista piano prize for sight-reading. Josh has been the Assistant Musical Director on a number of Lambert Jackson Production shows including Dr Zhivago, Main Men in Musicals, There’s Nothing Like a Dame and West End Women all at London's prestigious venue; Cadogan Hall.
Holly is a Principal Lecturer and Body Module Coordinator. She currently teaches classes in tap, jazz and musical theatre dance styles at Performers College Manchester and works with students on their in-house projects, public performances and agent showcases.
Toby has Musical Theatre running through his veins, as a young performer he travelled to London to pursue his singing and acting career; crossing paths with the likes of Sylvia Young and Kiki Dee who pointed him in the right direction.
