Performers College Birmingham celebrates first graduation at Hippodrome
BIMM University’s Birmingham campus held their 2024 graduation ceremony last week, which marked the first graduating year from Performers College Birmingham.
Faculty, friends and family gathered at the Hippodrome theatre to mark the culmination of our first BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and Dance graduates from the Birmingham campus since opening in 2021.
The ceremony included an inspirational address from honoured guest Don Letts, accomplished director and DJ, having directed iconic music videos for artists like The Clash (including the iconic London Calling), The Pretenders, The Wailers, Elvis Costello, Fun Boy Three, and Birmingham legends Musical Youth. His directing work continued on the big screen, with films such as Dancehall Queen, and Soul Britania.
Don told the graduating students:
“Be fearless. Don’t let fear hold you back from chasing your dreams, from creating the work you’re passionate about. Take risks, embrace failure, stay curious and most importantly, be true to yourself. The creative journey is a lifelong one, and it’s not always easy. But if you stay true to your vision, if you keep pushing, keep learning, keep evolving—you’ll find your way.”
Also addressing the graduands was Campus Dean James Maiden. James reflected on the ceremony:
“It was wonderful to celebrate BIMM University’s class of 2024 across all three schools, and confer degrees on our first graduating cohort from Performers College Birmingham.
The 2024 graduates should be so proud of themselves and their achievement. For the past three years they’ve put in the hard work and we congratulate each and every one of them on their well deserved success.”
Congratulations to all of our graduates, to whom we wish a long and successful career. Special thanks to our campus teams for organising such a memorable day.
