Musical Theatre Icon Kerry Ellis visits Essex Campus for exclusive masterclass
Performers College Essex was thrilled and honoured to welcome West End and musical theatre legend Kerry Ellis to campus for an exclusive masterclass.
Kerry joined us to share her stories, talk about her experiences and career, and pass her wisdom on to the next generation of musical theatre professionals.
As well as being interviewed by BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and Dance Deputy Course Leader Kieran Jae, Kerry offered the unique opportunity for a student to perform the iconic song For Good from the smash hit musical Wicked, in which Kerry was first British performer to portray the lead role of Elphaba on both West End and Broadway. All third year musical theatre students were able to submit for the change to sing with Kerry, and Keira French was chosen by a panel of Performers College lecturers and management.

Keira commented on the opportunity as she came off stage:
“I’m trying not to cry, and shaking like there’s no tomorrow! I just love the opportunity to be able to do it, and to be recognised by Performers College in giving me the opportunity to do it.”
Kieran Jae added:
“It was such an honour and a privilege to invite and have Kerry on campus today to talk to our students. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know her and ask lots of questions about her career and the future. I think the students got so much out of it… she was just fantastic.
The performance was a really special moment in Kiera’s training, and a moment I think she’ll never forget”
Thanks to Kerry Ellis from everyone at Performers College for joining us for this fabulous masterclass.
