Dr Ross Woods
Deputy Course Leader - BA (Hons) Performing Arts
Ross Woods is an actor, director, theatre-maker and educator. With a keen interest in Jacobean tragedy, devising and immersive world-building, he is highly experienced in vocational training, assessment, curriculum management, course development and quality assurance, and is part of the course leadership team at Performers College, Manchester.
Ross originally trained at Bretton Hall College of Arts and gained a BA (Hons) in Theatre Acting. He has since achieved an MA in Performing Shakespeare at Bath Spa University and a Professional Graduate Diploma in Teaching for the Lifelong Learning Sector at the University of Derby. Most recently, Ross has completed a PhD in Theatre at Guildford School of Acting. Titled ‘Problematic Deaths: The Art of Killing in Early Modern Tragedy’ his research focuses on the affective, pragmatic and aesthetic challenges of staging and realising Early Modern deaths in contemporary performance. Ross has also completed Advanced Stage Combat training in a wide range of weapon systems with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat.
