Danny Marland
Vocals Lecturer & Musical Director
Danny trained at Leeds Conservatoire, where he studied Music with a focus on production, harmony and composition for moving image. He has been a lecturer at our Brighton campus for the past three years, concentrating on musical direction and confidence-building for performers through singing. Alongside teaching, Danny works as a musical director in the music industry, collaborating with both independent and major label artists to craft their live shows.
Danny's extensive performance background includes roles as Musical Director, Producer, Songwriter and Session Keys player for a diverse range of artists and musicals. His portfolio spans classical singers like Alfie Boe, UK based rappers such as Pat and Ren and pop artists/bands including Sam Tompkins, Libby Whitehouse and Push Baby (formerly Rixton). In addition to his work with artists, Danny has composed music for Netflix series and independent short films, earning recognition at several international film festivals, along with several million streams across his catalogue.
Throughout his career, Danny has developed strong business and artist development skills, which he imparts to students, preparing them to be successful entrepreneurs in the entertainment industry.
His teaching philosophy is influenced by Critical Pedagogy and student-centred learning, emphasising the importance of equality, respect, collaboration, empowerment, and creating a safe and inclusive environment for the positive development of young adults.
