Claire Farmer

Associate Lecturer

Claire Farmer MSc, PGCHE, FHEA is an educator and researcher in dance and circus with over 15 years in the performing arts sector. Her practice focuses on anatomy, dance science, community dance practice, somatic practice, professional skills, policy and funding and strength and conditioning.

Claire holds an MSc Dance Science from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and a BA (Hons) Dance Studies with Drama, theatre and performance studies from Roehampton University. She has had the pleasure of working with dance companies, dance schools, universities and circus companies across the UK, delivering practical workshops and lectures including for All or Nothing Aerial Dance Theatre, Gravity and Levity, London Studio Centre, Pagrav Dance Company, Sujata Banerjee Dance Company, Dance East CAT programme and The Circus Doc.

Claire is the co-editor of The ‘Female’ Dancer: a soma-scientific approach and co-host of The ‘Female’ Dancer podcast as well author of numerous journal and magazine articles and blog posts across the performing arts sector. She is also the Chair of the Strength and Conditioning Special Interest Group for the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science.
