MA Performing Arts - Entrepreneurship
The MA Performing Arts Entrepreneurship award pathway is crafted for creatives who aspire to lead and innovate within the performing arts industry, merging traditional methods and producing new creative concepts.
This pathway offers access to state-of-the-art creative spaces, mentorship from industry-leading entrepreneurs, and collaboration opportunities with artists, performers, and creative professionals. You will have the opportunity to develop your own business concepts, presenting projects across diverse platforms to public, private, and industry-focused audiences.

Minimum Requirements
A degree (normally 2.2 or above) in a creative industry-related subject or significant experience in a relevant field. Overseas students where English is not their native language may be required to meet a minimum English language requirement of an Academic IELTS 6.5. We require a minimum of 6.0 to be achieved in each band.
All applicants will be subject to interview and a portfolio may also be requested for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPCEL).
Progression
You will be qualified to work as an advanced practitioner or educator/researcher within the field of performance arts and related creative industries.
Year 1
All students take the following core modules in their first year of study. Full module detail is subject to final approval.
Explore a range of creative project methodologies and development strategies, tailored for the performing arts industry. You’ll apply these to your own entrepreneurial ideas, focusing on innovation and development in the arts. With guidance from an experienced mentor through 1-2-1 sessions, you’ll create a small-scale business proposal or practical project concept, drawing on a range of artists and creatives to bring your idea to life.

Work with artists, designers, and technical specialists to bring your creative business ideas to life. This module emphasises the process of developing and executing collaborative business projects, from initial concept to final pitch. You will partner with an industry stakeholder, in a business collaboration venture, documenting your process from ideation to realisation.

Discover how digital tools, marketing platforms, and multimedia technology can enhance your business and connect with your intended audiences. This module prepares you to integrate tech into your business operations, giving you an edge in the digital landscape.

- Streaming Strategies for Creative Output
- Video Content Creation for Brand Promotion
- Building an Online Presence through Digital Portfolios
Gain essential skills to position yourself as a leader in the creative industry. From developing a professional business to understanding the nuances of funding and networking, this module provides a toolkit to launch and sustain your creative venture. You will present your business concepts at a student organised exhibition event, attended by industry stakeholders.

- Innovative Dance School Business Plans
- International Theatre Company Creation
In your final trimester, you will design and execute a full-scale business or creative enterprise project. Under 1-2-1 mentorship from an industry entrepreneur, you’ll refine your concept, work with a creative team, and present a final pitch or showcase to a target specified audience and a panel of experts.
Past projects have included an entire campus immersive theatre experience, where the audience travelled through differing creative concepts and performance creative outputs. Our bespoke facilities provide the professional infrastructure to bring your vision to life and establish your business identity.

Eligible BIMM University alumni commencing a postgraduate programme with an intake year from 2024 will receive a £1,000 discount on their tuition fees.
